Hero's Journey Screenplay Structure - The Wrestler (2008)

 Again, this demonstrates that a successful screenplay cannot be written without a deep understanding of this structure.
Some regarding the 188+ stage Hero's Journey stages follow:
o The Original State of Perfection is demonstrated: the fight between the Ram and the Ayatolla 20 years ago.
o That the State of Perfection is lost is demonstrated: the Ram is older now and no detailed brings within the crowds.
o The Exile from the Original, External and Another Worlds is demonstrated by him being thrown out of his trailer and possessing to sleep in his car.
o His Ordinary shama travels Self are demonstrated when we look him try to obtain more overtime. Critically, he does not should work at weekends, indicating that he is reluctant to let leave of his Old Self (that he is respected by the other wrestlers also relates to this).
o The Ram's journey really begins when he is told that the fight together with the Ayatollah is return on - this is his attempt to return to Original State of Perfection.








o The return to Original State of Perfection is combined with a look for for a New Self, that is represented by union with Marissa Tomei.
o The Physical Separation is that moment when the Ram decides to retire from wrestling.
o The Path of Trials are all those experiences that the Ram goes through trying to make a life for himself outside of wrestling: working within the deli etc.... He resists many of these and this is created explicit by his resistance to wearing the badge.
o Marissa Tomei acts as an Oracle, by telling him to look for his daughter.
o The Dragon Battle is his daughter's girlfriends resistance to letting the 3 meet easily. Read more...
